Cheryl Davidson – Resigns From Simunye Due To Disagreements
Cheryl Davidson submitted her letter of resignation from the Simunye Foundation Board of Directors after she had a disagreement on the logo.
She stated that she doesn’t agree with the use of a Black Fist as the logo. This was her exact statement:
“I do not agree with the use of the Black Fist as the logo for the foundation. Its symbolism of resistance and militancy does not align with my personal values; therefore, I cannot continue to support the foundation.”
Please note that nowadays a Black Fist is often used to represent the #BlackLivesMatter Movement.
The Simunye Foundation logo was established over 1 year prior to her joining the Board.
